ethel’s chocolate, Chicago’s newest gourmet chocolatier, has introcuded a new line of “approachable” everyday gourmet chocolate to be enjoyed in an innovative lounge setting. ethel’s chocolate lounges offer a unique chocolates in a cozy atmosphere where people can linger and also enjoy a range of beverages or special chocolate fondue.

The new line, created by world champion French pastry chef Patrice Caillot, is all hand-made using the company’s signature warm-blended process. The line appeals to all palates with a wide selection of centers, ranging from classic truffles, nuts, caramels, and fruits to a “cocktail” group inspired by drinks, such as Mojitos, Margaritas and Cosmopolitans, and an “American Pop” group featuring familiar favorites like peanut butter and jelly and cinnamon swirl. ethel’s chocolate uses an easy-to-recognize grouping and icon system to help consumers locate and enjoy their favorite tastes.

 “In our extensive consumer research, women told us they wanted an approachable place to select, purchase, and hang out and enjoy chocolate more frequently.  And they said they were tired of ‘mystery middles,’ where chocolate pieces are tossed after one bite because the centers aren’t what’s expected.  That’s why we created the ethel’s brand, which includes the first-ever approachable gourmet chocolate for everyday and our chocolate lounges,” says John Haugh, president of ethel’s.

ethel’s lounges welcome guests with a warm, inviting and casual atmosphere perfect for chocolate lovers to linger and maximize their chocolate enjoyment.  The space features cozy, overstuffed sofas and chairs, the continuous aroma of warm-blended chocolate, and a range of beverages perfect for pairing with chocolate including hot chocolates, coffees, teas, sparkling beverages, juices and water.  ethel’s special blend of chocolate fondue -- a signature item -- is served with fresh fruits, cakes, cookies and marshmallows.

Award winning pastry chef Patrice Caillot, ethel’s chief chcolatier, has more than 20 years’ experience working with chocolate. He joined ethels in November 2004.  His creative and his exacting technique are expressed in the classicism of his new line of chocolates.
