The Gourmet Chocolate Buffet

There may not be many good reasons to go to New York in February. The weather is usually cold and either rainy or snowy. But nothing will keep me from the Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park annual February chocolate bar.

When I hear the term “chocolate bar,” I think mostly about the chocolate. Usually, the words conjure up an image of chocolate wrapped in paper and weighing about 8 ounces. But the Ritz Carlton New York, Battery Park gives a new meaning to “chocolate bar.”

There’s the chocolate, of course. Award-winning Pastry Chef Laurent Richard presents a sumptuous buffet of unforgettable chocolate desserts complimented by a bottomless glass of Champagne. The evening’s theme is the streets of Paris and the delights begin with a milk chocolate fondue presentation at each table Enhancing the chocolate experience is the breathtaking view from 14the floor Rise Bar, overlooking the harbor, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island..

And then there’s the bar factor. Just like at any good bar, there are regulars. There are people I see at this event every year. I understand. It is like a chocolate therapy group and I would never want to miss it.

The Chocolate Bar is served Friday and Saturday nights from February 3 through February 25 with a special Valentine’s Day event Tuesday, February 14. Reservations are recommended:
