Vere Launches 100 Percent Organic Dark Chocolate Bars

Vere (pronounced “very” from Latin meaning “real” or “authentic”), a chocolate company based in New York City, has a new line of 100 percent organic dark chocolate bars made from single-varietal cacao beans grown in the Ecuadorian rainforest. The bars are flavored with organic, native ingredients and sweetened with organic raw sugar.

“Our new bars celebrate the bounty of Ecuador, one of the most biodiverse countries in the world,” says Kathy Moskal, President and founder of Vere. “These new bars are handmade at the source from single origin, organic Arriba cacao beans. The organic, raw sugar we use is grown by members of the Maquita Cushunchic Foundacion, which promotes fair and equitable trade. Our new bars have superior levels of antioxidants and polyphenols.”

The cacao beans are certified by The Rainforest Alliance to be pesticide-free, sustainably grown, and responsibly harvested. Growing the beans under the canopy of the rainforest means provides farmers a cash crop that discourages clear cutting.

Vere products are lightly sweetened with a blend of natural sweeteners that have been designed to avoid spiking blood sugar levels. A single serving has less sugar than an apple.

The new dark chocolate bars are available in small (10 grams) and large (85 gram) and five flavors: Ultimo Dark; Banana and Macadamia Nuts; Cayenne and Cacao Nibs; Espresso and Anise, and Raspberry and Lemon.

Customers are able to sample the new chocolate bars during Vere’s “Factory Fridays.” The factory is located at 12 W. 27th Street (between 6th Avenue and Broadway), 6th floor, in Manhattan.
