Carolina FoodPros Introduces a New Walking Tour this Holiday Season



 
 

This holiday season, chocolate lovers will be seduced in Charleston, one of the country’s hottest culinary destinations.  They will savor its dark and sweeter side on a new culinary tour, Chocolate Seductions, sponsored by Carolina FoodPros. The tours start December 2, 2005 and will run every Friday through December from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The tours showcase pastry chefs, bakers and chocolatiers as they share their passion for this splendid sweet. Led by nationally known culinary expert, Amanda Dew Manning, guests will go behind the scenes to learn all about chocolate, and of course, delight their palates with  chocolate desserts at some of Charleston’s best restaurants, bakeries and specialty shops.

Guests will enjoy spending time with some of the city’s most celebrated chefs at the finest downtown restaurants including Charleston Grill, located inside the luxurious Charleston Place Hotel, Cypress, Fish, McCrady’s and Tristan.

The featured chefs introduces their own chocolate specialties. Vincenz Aschbacher, the master pastry chef of the award-winning Charleston Grill, is recognized for the quality and complexity of his old-world style creations. Charleston’s Post and Courier named him "the resident genius pastry chef”; he has also been featured several times in Pastry Arts Magazine.

A new face to Charleston’s culinary scene, Michelle Rupe, executive pastry chef of McCrady’s, will introduce guests to some of her favorite chocolate indulgences and offer  insights on this seductive food.

Tristan’s Jered Young, recognized for his artistic chocolate masterpieces, will offer guests chocolate lessons and introduce guests to Tristan’s Warm Chocolate Cake accompanied by black cherry ice cream and profiteroles with sweet almond chantilly and warm chocolate fondue.

At Fish Restaurant, located in an 1837 single house in historic Uptown, guests will meet Ryan Herrmann, executive chef, and enjoy selections from the restaurant’s dessert menu.

Chocolate Seductions begin at the Charleston Place Hotel, at the corner of Meeting and Market Streets in downtown Charleston. Located in historic downtown Charleston, Carolina FoodPros was founded in 2001 by tenth generation South Carolinian Amanda Dew Manning, M.S., M.P.A., and Robert Manning, M.B.A., as a division of the nutrition and food consulting business Amanda Dew Manning & Associates, Inc.  Ms. Manning served two terms on the National Board of Directors of the American Institute of Wine and Food and is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier.  She is active in the Southern Foodways Alliance and is president of the SC Specialty Food Association.
