A Sweet Pleasure at Conrad Resort, Punta del Este

Chocolate Spa Treatment Promises to Reduce Measurements

“We love you Conrad, Oh, yes we do!”

The song line from the 1960s "Bye, Bye Birdie" kept running through my mind during my stay at the Conrad Resort and Casino in Uruguay’s trendy Punta del Este, which reminded us of Miami.

My husband and I spent part of our first day wandering and lounging on the long, sweeping beach. But basking in the sun isn’t all that easy. By late afternoon I was exhausted! My husband headed for the room to recuperate and I headed for Conrad’s spa.

At the spa I was faced with another difficult decision. If the truth be known, I could use all the treatments. I narrowed the choices down to Aroma Therapy massage with chamomile, citrus and other aromas sure to reduce the stress of a day at the beach. The most intriguing treatment was the Copper and Caviar Treatment. Caviar has never been one of my favorites so, being a traditionalist, I opted for the Spa Marine-Deluxe Chocolate treatment, described as “A Sweet Pleasure That Reduces Measurement.”

Cocoa induces the production of endorphins, a substance useful in eliminating fat. As all chocohophiles know, chocolate is also the "the happiness molecule." It stimulates the senses, releases tension and produces a feeling of well-being. It also smoothes the skin and has an anti-cellulite effect. Just the thing after an exhausting day at the beach watching all those sweet young things in their "dental floss" bathing suits!

Ah, the sensuousness of a chocolate treatment. My skin was smothered in soft, creamy, warm chocolate (no tasting, please!). The treatment was indeed relaxing and my skin became smooth and silky. I felt rejuvenated and ready for dinner at the Conrad’s St. Tropez, followed by a show in their theater.

The delicious cocoa-based wrapping is touted to reduce measurements. I’ll need many more treatments to be sure, so we will have to stay longer at the Conrad. Maybe I will then look like the "sweet young thing" who had the treatment before me!

"We love you Conrad, oh, yes we do!"
