Nation’s Largest Consumer Chocolate Event Nov. 10-13

The Eighth Annual Chocolate Show, the nation’s largest consumer chocolate event, modeled after the famous Salon du Chocolat in Paris, returns to New York to showcase all things chocolate. The Chocolate Show takes place from Nov. 10 – 13 at the Metropolitan Pavilion and the Altman Building and will kick off on the evening of Nov. 8 with the unveiling of the 2005 Chocolate Fashion Collection.

This year’s show will devote 40,000 square feet to chocolate, including 75 brands and 65 demonstrations by top pastry chefs from around the world.  Guests will have an opportunity to learn everything about chocolate at the Bean to Bar exhibit, meet and learn from top pastry chefs and chocolatiers, taste samples from established companies and new emerging brands, and enjoy shopping.

In the Chocolate Lounge, the furniture and décor will be chocolate themed, and mixologists will prepare chocolate cocktails and offer chocolate/spirit pairings.  Fountains of chocolate, chocolate painting, and elaborate chocolate sculptures will highlight the Michel Cluizel Chocolate Art Walk and this year’s Chocolate Fashion Collection will be on display. Authors and pastry chefs will sign their cookbooks at the Barnes & Noble store inside the Chocolate Show.  For those waiting to get into the show,  Schokinag hot chocolate and other treats will be offered.

New this year, the Chocolate Spa is a pavilion completely dedicated to chocolate-themed health and beauty products and treatments for weary chocophiles.  Also new this year, the Kid’s “Chocolate Zone” will feature fun and entertainment for young chocolate lovers.

“Each year we seek new ways to delight visitors with chocolate,” explain Sylvie Douce and François Jeantet, founders and producers of the Chocolate Show.  “This year, the Chocolate Spa has been added to expand on the many ways that people can experience chocolate.”

The Fashion Show will be open to the public and serve as a fundraiser for DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS). This unique fashion event combines chocolate and couture to create whimsical designs that stimulate the eye and the palate.

Out of town guests visiting the Chocolate Show will benefit from great deals at a selection of hotels throughout the city.  The Washington Square Hotel (www.washingtonsquarehotel.com) offers a unique and delicious “Chocolate Package.”  It includes a special room rate, full American breakfast, and goody bag filled with chocolates and tickets to the Chocolate Show.  Other great deals can be found through new Chocolate Show partner, Quikbooks.com. Guests can visit www.quickbook.com/chocolate to find great rates at hotels near the Chocolate Show.

The Chocolate Show drew 30,000 visitors last year.
