Chocolate Covered February

Immerse Yourself in Chocolate in the Sweetest Place on Earth

As any chocoholic knows, everything can be covered in chocolate. But how about a whole, entire month covered in chocolate? You can celebrate a Chocolate Covered February in the “Sweetest Place on Earth,” of course, Hershey, PA. In fact during Chocolate Covered February you can literally immerse yourself in chocolate!

Start the day with breakfast at Lebbie’s at the Hershey Lodge with kiss shaped chocolate chip waffles topped with whipped chocolate butter. Don’t forget your fruit–dipped in the chocolate fondue fountain.

Make the Spa at the Hotel Hershey the next stop for a little immersion therapy in hedonistic pleasure. The elegant surroundings set the mood and so does “quiet time.” After enrobing, find a quite spot: around the fireplace, the no-talking room, or my favorite spot, in a leather chair in the mahogany-paneled alcove, or sitting room, with a view of the snow covered lawns and hills.

All your cares will drain away during your Whipped Chocolate Bath of foaming chocolate milk. After the bath, head to my secret spot, the Oasis, to recline on a leather sofa and feel like Shaharazade. I expected my toga-clad servant to enter momentarily with grapes. That didn’t happen. Maybe the next time! Instead, Kim, the spa hostess,  arrived to tell me it was time for my Chocolate Sugar Scrub. The Scrub makes your skin silky soft and  smooth. Then you’ll be ready for a Chocolate Fondue Wrap.Warmed moor mud and essence of cocoa revitalize the skin. Then you’ll be swaddled in a soft, warm blanket.

After a Vichy Shower, find nourishment at the Oasis, a luncheon restaurant that is open only to spa guests. Robes are acceptable attire. Lunch on healthy veggie warp and salads, but save room for yummy chocolate crème brulee.

Then it is time for more pampering with a Cocoa Message. The Chocolate Covered day doesn’t have to end there. Before dinner head to Hotel Hershey’s Iberian Lounge for a cocktail. Not just any cocktail, but a Chocolate Amore Martini (click here for recipe). Dine in the Circular Dining Room. The menu offers more chocolate wonders, such as Cocoa Seared Scallops (click here for recipe) and Grilled Sea Bass with Vanilla Scented Endive and a Mocha Reduction.

The day won’t be complete without another stop at the Iberian Lounge where you can plot the next day’s activities over a Milton Hershey Chocolate Coffee Kiss. Tomorrow: chocolate and wine pairing.
